Saturday May 12th • 2:00pm-3:30pm
Try out aerial rope to experience a totally unique style of movement! Much more dynamic and momentum-based than aerial silks, rope teaches an aerialist to move efficiently and trust their grip. In this workshop we will explore some of the fundamental momentum-based rope skills, as well as rope-specific climbs. We’ll also practice transferring moves from rope to silks and exploring how each apparatus forces or allows us to move differently. This is a Level 2 workshop for students with some aerial background.
Prerequisite: Students must be able to invert from the ground, hold a straddle for 5 seconds, and complete a pike-up climb (opposite side hip key climb with a shoulder wrap) all with good form and control. If in doubt, please consult with an HVCA teacher before registering.
Teacher: Nicki Miller
First, I am an aerial theatre artist. With the storytelling tools of theatre and the poetry of circus arts, my unique professional experience in both theatre and circus has given me an effective vocabulary for creating, performing and collaborating on meaningful performance work across genres. Second, and as important as the art, is my work as a movement educator for those interested in safely and boldly embodying and expressing themselves physically. I have a degree in theatre from Syracuse University, various fitness/movement training credentials (NASM CPT, Fit For Birth, FRCms), and over a decade of experience creating, performing and teaching in throughout North America. I am the co-founder and director of Only Child Aerial Theatre, creator of ASYLUM.
Pricing: $55 for just this workshop or $50 when combined with Aerial Act Creation
