Newbies • Thursdays @ 6pm – 7:15pm
Lyra (or hoop trapeze) is a steel or aluminum hoop, usually mounted on a swivel so it spins. Lyra is an accessible apparatus to start out on in the world of aerial dance, because the structure of the hoop allows your body to be supported in a wide variety of shapes. This class will focus on moving safely through beginner positions on the hoop, and transitioning between them. Spinning is totally optional and won’t be at all required for class.
Open Level • Wednesdays @ 10:30am – 11:45am
For those with some aerial dance experience, Lyra is in some ways ‘freer’ than aerial fabric, as beginner movements don’t require so much handling of the apparatus, and tend to afford more creativity to the dancer. Spinning is totally optional and won’t be at all required for class.
Prerequisites: Ability to safely navigate foundational positions independently. Please contact us before registering for instructor approval. Thank you for understanding that this prerequisite is for your safety and the safety of the HVCA community.
